Come and join the Georgetown Club of Metropolitan New York in a volunteer opportunity with New York City Housing Authority! The NYCHA delivers fresh produce, free of charge to NYCHA residents in an effort to fight hunger in communities where nutrient dense food is inaccessible. As volunteers we will assist in the distribution of fresh produce in a greenmarket setting.
When: Saturday, January 13th from 8:45a.m. to 12:00p.m.
Where: 286 East 156 Street, Bronx, NY 10451
Take the #2 ,#4 or #5 train to 149 street – Grand Concourse. Walk east on 149th street towards Morris Avenue. At Morris Avenue, walk north (uptown) towards 156th street. At 156th street, make a right and the market will be set-up in the parking lot.
What to wear: T-shirts and jeans are fine (and Georgetown gear is always encouraged so we can easily find each other). Wear comfortable shoes and warm clothing as we will be outside and on our feet for most of the day. Please do not wear:
T-shirts with inappropriate or offensive sayings or designs
Clothing that exposes your midriff. We do not want anyone to attract any unwelcome attention.
Sandals or other open shoes.
Volunteer spots are on a first-come, first-served basis. 6 spots are available.
