Movement with KEEN

Skip the gym and help a child with special needs discover how much they can do through sports and arts activities! KEEN Moves combines gymnastics, martial arts, and dance into a fun time of exercise. Led by KEEN’s Coaches, athletes will enjoy stretching, tumbling, and moving their bodies to the rhythm of the beat. This project requires consistent physical activity, so volunteers will be up on their feet for the entire project.   KEEN’s mission is to empower youth with disabilities by providing free, non-competitive one-to-one exercise programs. You can learn more about KEEN at http://www.keenusa.org/. New volunteers to KEEN must fill out a 1-page volunteer info sheet. You will need to list three references. The application can be found here. When: Sunday July 22nd from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.   Where: St. Mary’s Recreation Center (450 St. Ann’s Avenue, Bronx, NY, 10455). The center is easily accessible via the 2 or 5 trains. The center is about a 10 minute walk from the Third Ave-149th St. stop.   What to wear: Athletic gear or comfortable t-shirts and jeans. Georgetown gear is always encouraged so we can easily find each other. Most importantly, wear comfortable shoes as we will be on our feet for most of the day.
